BassBoy (@Bass8oy) – Badboy [EP Stream]

As the creator of some of Bassline’s most monumental records in history, BassBoy comes crashing into 2017 with the release of his ‘Badboy’ EP, leading with a Frisco-sampled juggernaut. Taking on the name of the EP, the lead single “Badboy” opens with a retro UKG synth and siren alongside the unmistakable chopped & screwed tones of Boy Better Know’s Frisco, allowing the heavy drop to creep up on you as the dirty, warping bassline kicks in.

Consisting of three records, the ‘Badboy’ EP showcases Bassboy’s exploration of bassline music, while experimenting with different genres, including UKG & Grime; an area the Birmingham-based producer & DJ is well seasoned in having worked alongside the likes of Trilla, Kozzie, Autumn Rowe, & Mercury Award winner Skepta. His heavy basslines & infectious, off-kilter drum grooves, have not only seen him play at the most prestigious of clubs & festivals but have also awarded him with being able to create his very own festival, “BassFest“, which is set to debut in Manchester, Birmingham, & Amsterdam this Summer.

From the contrast between the sweet female vocals of Aria and the dark & sinister beat on “Loyalty“, through to the computer game synths & energetic, Brum-tinged bars from Pz Da Architect on the grime inspired “Move“, the ‘Badboy’ EP is a weighty, unadulterated Bassline offering that sees Bassboy make a welcomed return for 2017.
