The six-track EP delivers a dark, ominous, yet melodic sound.

It was self-recorded throughout Vancouver and Victoria, while NATO Down mixed the record at the Edmonton based studio, Up in Arms studio.

The album artwork and packaging was designed and painted by Moka Only.

In promotion of ‘The Mothership EP’, Switch and Moka released their first single, titled “Who Are We”, which is available now to give a watch below…

We want listeners to think of the project like it’s a TV series, where each song is an episode and each episode takes on a different genre of beat – from upbeat and funky to gloomy and dark. The goal of the project was to make it sound as if we created the project in the same room. To bridge the space, we got creative with our writing and used daily voice messages to share ideas.”

Switch and Moka Only first collaborated in 2020, releasing a shared single titled “Skeletons”.

Shortly after, the idea arose to work on an EP together.

Finally, in July 2023, the idea came to fruition and they began recording what was initially intended as a four-track project.

Still without an album title, and the inclination that there may be a few more tracks to pump out, Switch sent Moka some additional beats – one of them titled “Mothership”.

The word resonated, and was incorporated into the chorus of the song, became the title track for the EP, and inspired the album artwork.
