Michael Jackson’s short film for “Stranger in Moscow” was the seventh and final short film produced for recordings from HIStory: Past, Present and Future—Book I, Michael’s fifth album as an adult solo performer. As a single, “Stranger in Moscow” reached the Top 10 in seven countries, including the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, The Netherlands and New Zealand.

The black and white short film for “Stranger in Moscow” features Michael walking the city streets on a rainy day while various scenes, including a woman in a coffee shop, a homeless man on the street, a children’s baseball game and a businessman feeding pigeons, unfold in slow motion. At the climax of the short film, a thunderstorm begins, washing over Michael and the featured actors as others run for shelter.
