The Emmy-winning emcee and Brooklyn producer’s new collaborative album taps Sadat X, Termanology, Craig G, and more for an ode to Hip-Hop’s “Golden Era”

The drums have to smack,” says DJ Premier.

The ‘boom’ is the kick drum and the ‘bap’ is the snare. Boom bap is a style of music where the drums are highly emphasized… there’s an aggressive marching, driving, dramatic rhythm to the production itself,” says KRS-One.

While a clear definition of the subgenre might be elusive, one thing is for certain: Boom Bap has long been a part of Hip-Hop’s DNA, and its sound is unmistakable.

Producer Amadeus360 first set out to cement his legacy in the pantheon of torchbearers for the raw, gritty style with his 2023 magnum opus, ‘The MPC Jedi‘.

In contrast to the throng of cross-generational spitters featured across that album’s 18 tracks, Amadeus locks in with Emmy-winning rapper Devine Carama for Guardians of the Boom Bap.

Released today (6.13.2025) via Soulspazm, the new album serves as a full, concise body of work dedicated to the bare essentials of Hip-Hop’s “Golden Era”.

We want listeners to get that same feeling they got listening to hip-hop in the 90’s,” Carama explains. “Just beats, rhymes, and life.

As an activist, youth advocate, published author, and college professor, Carama’s socially conscious tenor shines throughout the album.

I am a sucker for a real lyricist, and Devine is an animal on the mic,” says Amadeus.

For familiarity, the self-proclaimed “Beat King” taps legends such as Craig G, Sadat X, and more who contribute fervent guest verses to album standouts such as “Respect Due” and “Hip Hop Commandments”.

In this current state of fast-food production and lack of respect for real producers and MCs, it was important to us to continue the tradition of creating real boom-bap music and to continue to make sure this music never goes anywhere.” – Amadeus360
