EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS

  • 0:46 – CARMELO ADDRESSES HIS PREVIOUS COMMENTS ON THE DENVER NUGGETS AND THE #15 JERSEY

Mero:So last episode there was a little confusion and the internet was on your ass about the whole jersey situation…It wasn’t a shot at Jokic, it wasn’t a shot at nobody… Apparently, a lot of people were saying ‘He’s bugging, Anthony Randolph wore the number before.’ Even our boy Stephen A. was like ‘Carmelo, I love you but you’re buggin’.”

Carmelo:…Everybody has something to say about me for 20 years and I’ve never spoken on anything. No situations I’ve ever been in, no feelings, not nothing…I’m speaking as an experience at a point in time in my career… I’m speaking on the way organizations treat players when they leave despite what they ever did for that organization…So my shit wasn’t against Jokic…It had nothing to do with Jokic. That was 4-5 years later. I was making the point that [Nuggets] organization didn’t handle it well when it came to the number and I’m standing on that. Because If you handle it well, Anthony Randolph don’t get the 15. If you [are] handling the situation well. It’s like alright he wanted to get out of here, fuck him….It was a lockout [season] so I don’t know what was happening in Denver.. So next time I see it [the number], mind you I’m on 7 now, so I’m not really thinking about what’s happening in Denver, I’m moving on. Because of that, I see it [playing] against Anthony Randolph and I’m like oh wow! Word??

  • 5:36 – CARMELO REAFFIRMS HIS QUOTES HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH NIKOLA JOKIC AND HIS PLACE AS AN ALL-TIME NUGGETS GREAT

Carmelo:Just to stay on topic, it wasn’t about Jokic, Jokic came later, I was just saying the organization had an opportunity to say ‘Hold up, he might come back, you never know.’ I never burnt no bridges there so why would you burn the bridge? …I’m speaking on that point in time in my life and career…Like damn, I was fucked up to leave. So no to everybody that thinks that I’m bitter, no, I’m at peace. But now I get a chance to speak on things that y’all was speaking on for me for 21 years. So now I’m gonna speak my truth. I can only speak on things I’ve been through, things I’ve experienced, things that I’ve seen. Not what I’ve heard… If you don’t like that, ya’ll don’t like that. I didn’t say anything disrespectful, I didn’t say anything off the line. I said Jokic probably didn’t know what was going on at that time. Again, he was the 40-something pick…That makes me stand on what I’m saying even more. You gave someone who was the 41st pick after you already gave it to somebody else so that tells me 15 is no longer connected with Melo…It’s just the mentality of the organization at that point in time.”

  • 29:10 – CARMELO SHARES WHY JOEL EMBIID SHOULD BE THE CLEAR CUT MVP DESPITE THE POSSIBILITY OF HIM BEING RULED INELIGIBLE FOR THE AWARD

Carmelo:To answer the question of Embiid, and MVP and the CBA and playing the amount of games. I just think it’s twofold. Like I get the CBA and why they did it and why they agreed to that, but also with Joel, bro, If you play 50 games cool. If you play 60 games… If you was the best player in the league for ¾ of the season, you the MVP…He MVP bro.”

  • 1:04:59 – CARMELO ON THE MIAMI HEAT HONORING DWYANE WADE WITH A STATUE AND WHY HE DOESN’T GET THE CREDIT HE DESERVES

Carmelo:I don’t think people understand how bad of a motherfucker D-Wade was… I’m saying it with this much passion because you don’t hear that name come up much in basketball amongst this younger generation. So it’s like nah, ya’ll are buggin’. This was within the last 10 years. How the fuck y’all just erasing that… He was a bad motherfucker man. He was probably the best at shot creation ability. The way he created shots in the paint, floaters, one-handed, taking contact behind the back. There weren’t guards that were athletic like that at his size… Arguably he was the best 2-guard in the league at one point in time and people felt that…He deserves his flowers man so big shoutout to Miami, for the first statue. Let’s hope that shit don’t melt!

  • 1:14:05 – CARMELO LOOKS BACK ON PLAYING D-WADE; SAYS HE WAS HARD TO FIGURE OUT

Carmelo:Playing against him, I had to figure it out because again, I didn’t know what game he was bringing. He could get buckets but didn’t have to get buckets to impact the game. So he’s impacting the game every other way, getting putbacks, backdoor cuts, free throws. So now you look up and he’s not really doing nothing but he got 16 points at the half…I’ve grown to really, really, really love D-Wade’s game… to a standard where I appreciate his game and then you start realizing there’s not too many motherfuckers that are like that. You want to compare the Kobes and the D-Wades at the time but it’s totally two different games. You can’t tell me another motherfucker compared to D-Wade.”
