Wilmington's Love Grove Community Held Meeting Concerning More Access

Love Grove residents held a community meeting today to celebrate the bridges they have already crossed and the possibility of a new access bridge to their community.

Currently, the neighborhood is accessible by only one entrance, which can be blocked by train traffic. As a result of the 2014 Transportation Bond, plans for a project to design additional access to the community are underway.

President of the Love Grove Community Association, Lynda McMillan, says the project will make life a lot easier for the community.

“You may be sick, you might be in labor, any of these things can take place and you’re not able to get out of the community, which can be detrimental sometimes,” said McMillan.

The project will be the first of the bond projects started, and it’s expected it will take two to three years to complete. Right now there is a timeline to begin construction of the project between December 2016 and December 2017.

The next public meeting for the project will be in February of 2016, and in the meantime the community will decide on a design.
