A Walgreens store in St. Louis has been accused of racial profiling after calling police on a black man with diabetes.
Wesley Dozier told local news outlet KSDK that he stopped at the Walgreens on Monday night to pick up personal products to help with scarring from his insulin pump.
But employees accused him of stealing beauty products.
“I was more than anything shocked,” he said. “I felt threatened, but I was just simply confused.”
Dozier said he was searched by police. But he was released when they failed to find any stolen items.
“I felt like I was being treated like I did something wrong. And the way they looked at me was if I was a criminal,” he said.
Walgreens said in a statement that it was looking into the incident.
