Rasheed Chappell puts on for his community in the stripped-down, vintage-styled new video for “My Epic (Portraits)”, a heartfelt ode to the people he loves off his recently released First Brick project.

The video is directed by foundationDIGITAL Films, the team that has handled all of Chappell’s videos promoting First Brick. And whereas the previous visuals ("Shorty Rock" & "101") centered on the emcee as a street preacher of sorts, “My Epic” carries a more cinematic vibe reminiscent of what you’d expect to see in a "Spike Lee Joint".

It’s fitting given the highly personal feel of the track itself, which boasts a potently nostalgic production aesthetic supplied by Kenny Dope, who produced the entirety of First Brick. The combination of brass and drums provide Chappell with a beautiful backdrop suited for touching rhymes like “I speak for you, I sincerely do / I see your beauty, they gon’ see it, too.” That’s not even getting into the beat switch, which ramps up the energy on the track and in the visuals—but you’ll have to see that for yourself.

The ten track LP boasts guest appearances from O.C., Lil Fame (M.O.P.), DJ Scratch, CRIMEAPPLE, Daniel Son, Hus Kingpin, Recognize Ali, and Napoleon Da Legend, and is set to arrive shortly on CD and vinyl in limited quantities, via Kay-Dee Records.
