Grime artist Nolay goes super saiyan in her new Anime-inspired video for “Gotta Love It“. Fully recovered from a horrific car accident, Nolay prepares for a stateside invasion with the video alongside lyrical annotations from the artist.
The video finds Nolay on tearing up London’s East End and demonstrating her Cockney roots, enhanced by provocative manga-style animations that augment the action onscreen. “Gotta Love It” is the first single from the ‘#GrimeGutsandGlory‘ EP, her first United States release – OUT 6.10.2016!!!
In April, several British radio stations, including BBC Radio 1 & Radio 1Xtra, added “Gotta Love It” to regular rotation. A stalwart independent artist and a veteran in the UK Grime scene with a new radio single and a documentary about her life & music in the works, Nolay’s career seemed ready to launch into the stratosphere.
One week later, she was fighting for her life. On 4.24.2016, Nolay found herself in critical condition after suffering a terrible car crash. Nolay’s legion of fans & admirers in the music community flooded social media with messages of support and soon #PrayForNolay trended worldwide on Twitter. Fueled by the public support & prayers, Nolay made a full recovery, returning from the experience stronger than ever.
Known in the UK for her brash, fiery lyricism, & songwriting ability, Nolay is a pioneer in the Grime genre. She began her career during the first Grime boom in 2004 as a member of the group Unorthodox and soon made her name for herself with hit singles such as “Unorthodox Daughter“.
Nolay currently stars in the UK television series “Top Boy“, cementing her status as a quadruple threat: she writes, raps, sings, & acts.
