With all of the real danger Black men currently face in America, fear is often warranted. However, K.A.A.N’s paranoia is at a fever pitch in the official Sean Cooper and Matthew Robinson-directed music video for “Reaper”. The song is from the Maryland native rapper’s 13th full-length album and third project of 2020, ‘Blissful Awareness‘, released last month via UMUWWA.
The ‘Blissful Awareness’ LP arrived on the heels of the release of K.A.A.N’s ‘Twenty Nine‘ album and collaborative project with producer FloFilz, ‘Lost In Translation‘. With a vast majority of the production handled by Grammy-winning Aftermath producer Dem Jointz and Dee Ace, ‘Blissful Awareness’ is an album about gaining self-knowledge.
About K.A.A.N:
K.A.A.N is a Maryland native rapper whose name stands for Knowledge Above All Nonsense. He’s earned rightful comparisons to Kendrick Lamar with his unique voice, impressively fast rap precision, and dense, cerebral lyrics that take up issues like mental health, politics, and religion. With a career that spans just under a decade, K.A.A.N has amassed millions of streams across 13 full-length albums, 13 EPs, and three mixtapes. Probably most impressive is that K.A.A.N never wrote a single rap until the age of 21 (2012). He spent time working as a brickmason to fund his rap career until Grammy-wining Aftermath producer Dem Jointz discovered K.A.A.N on SoundCloud, took him under his wing, and flew him out to LA, where he now records at Dr. Dre’s Record One studio. K.A.A.N’s first three projects dropped within a year of each other. His ‘Twenty Nine’ album was released in February 2020. After last month’s collaborative project with German producer FloFilz ‘Lost In Translation’, K.A.A.N released ‘Blissful Awareness’, his third project of 2020 on May 29. K.A.A.N is now preparing his fourth project of the year for a July release.
