Hailing from south-east London, BLESSED – made-up of sisters Lauren and Georgia Morgan – is the exciting new duo currently causing a storm on the music scene as they continue to unleash their addictive and one-of-a-kind fusion of R&B, dancehall, electronic and pop influenced sounds.
Following the recent release of their last track ‘Howlin’ which was featured exclusively on Clash magazine and chosen as MistaJam’s ‘Radar’ play on his 1Xtra show, BLESSED have just released their brand new single, ‘Pride’ and its vibrant, must-see visuals.
Premiered on Hunger and continuing their flair for crafting hypnotic sonics with killer melodies and sharp lyricism, ‘Pride’ is a slice of smooth and addictive R&B stylings combining old-school influences with BLESSED’s own dynamic take on the genre that is earning them hordes of new fans. The track’s stylish and colourful visual, directed by London director Dumas Haddad, pays homage to some of the iconic girl groups of the 90s and 00s. ‘Pride’ also follows the recent release of BLESSED’s debut EP ‘See Through All The Colours’ which along with its seductive title track also featured their previous release ‘My Yute’ and debut track ‘Venom’.
Recently signed to the iconic Island Records hot on the heels of the buzz they have been bringing to the scene, BLESSED have steadily been building some serious heat and earning rave reviews from titles such as i-D and Wonderland and had Popjustice urging everyone to ‘keep your eyes on this pair’ whilst SBTV described the duo as ‘definitely blessed’.
Speaking on their new track and video, BLESSED told Hunger:
“’Pride’ to us is about finding someone who you know has a wild streak in them like yourself. And when they unleash their wilder side, you want to be the one who tames them.
We wanted our visuals to use bright vibrant colours as the song is playful and fun. Destiny’s Child has always been our all-time favourite girl group, which was definitely one of the inspirations behind the video along with some of the other iconic girl groups from that era.”
Earlier this year, the duo released their debut track, the soulful and haunting ‘Venom’ which swiftly caught the attention of outlets such as Notion, Press Play OK and Very Introspective and along with their show-stopping covers of tracks by the likes of Cashmere Cat, Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee and DJ Khaled offered a glimpse of the credentials which will no doubt see BLESSED as the new act to watch out for and the name on everyone’s lips!
