@VannDigital Mixtape Review: C4 Cartier (@ItsCartierMzk) » Made Of Gold

Today marks a great point in VDN history as this will be the first review I’ve ever written for a mixtape I’ve promoted thru my newspaper #TheVDNDaily. And this history maker comes in the form of a rapper from Killeen, TX named C4 Cartier, who just recently dropped his second mixtape ‘Made Of Gold‘ which is hosted by DJ Kouture (of Cool Running DJs). ‘Made Of Gold‘ is the follow-up to C4 Cartier’s debut mixtape ‘Da Cartier Special‘ which he dropped back in 2010.

Made Of Gold‘ is a project made up mostly of sex & drugs with a touch of violence, money, & everything else in between. While these topics have already gotten redundant by 2013, there still seems to be an audience for these type of subjects. Other than that, I can see the typical hip-hop radio listener falling in love with this project with proper marketing & promotion.

This pretty much goes without saying but the average hip-hop listener looking to hear lyricism & originality would get bored with the content of ‘Made Of Gold‘ with the quickness. I feel C4 Cartier has the potential to make it in the music industry but only if he is willing to develop his craft a little better after what I have heard on ‘M.O.G.‘. Also, Cartier (as well as artists in general) have to realize that it’s not always about what appeals to the masses but what comes from the heart.

Despite my criticism, ‘Made Of Gold‘ should still find a place with a mainstream audience with the right marketing & promotion. This project might even find an audience with potheads with most of the tracks focused on smoking weed. ‘Made Of Gold‘ is available now & you can download it here. -Review written by DV
