It has been 3 years since the passing of 1 of hip-hop's greatest, Keith Elam aka Guru . Solar , his partner in 7 Grand Records , has since moved on past this situation. Today, VannDigital.com interviews Solar as he addresses how he has dealt with Guru's death, upcoming projects, gun control, and some more and some more. What has Solar been up to since Guru's death??? I took some time off to mourn the loss of Guru, travel, & do other things I love & to heal. Over a year ago, I started to put the business of moving forward into motion: new projects, catalog, & my albums. How did you get started as a producer??? As a young dude, I was always musical & started my first band at 13 years old. I was the producer of that band. Then went into DJing & producing Hip-Hop. Will there be any unreleased Guru albums dropping anytime soon??? Yes, there will be. The fans are asking for new music from Guru. What's your take on today's music industry??? It's really a new game now. Very different from the golden age of Hip-Hop everybody loves. How have you dealt with the "bad rap" you have gotten since Guru's passing??? I have looked at the controversy. Lies & gossip as just that: false rumors, lies, & slander. We see this all the time now in Hip-Hop. Controversy is everywhere. The funny part is: they said no snitchin & these cowards was snitchin their asses off. Making up lies to false snitch & nobody called them on the no snitch policy. But I kept it 100 my dude, I didin't snitch on nothing or nobody LOL. Are there any solo projects from Solar in the works??? Yes. My new album, it's already years ahead of anything ever done in music. It's gonna be a game changer. How do you feel about tougher gun control laws (as we already know our government is still pushing this issue)??? It's a touchy subject now & understandably so!!! But I don't believe the government can stop violence by gun control. It takes education & programs to address the causes of this problem. What production projects do you have coming up??? I have just produced new music for a legendary rock group which I am very excited about. Where can the people reach you at???
