Tennessee Lawmakers Awarded Donkey Of The Day For Passing Bill Allowing Teachers To Be Armed In Schools

Tennessee lawmakers have been awarded Donkey Of The Day for passing a bill that will allow teachers to be armed in schools.

A while back (first quarter 2023 to be exact), a 28-year-old transgender person named Audrey Hale went up to the campus of The Covenant School–a private Christian school in Nashville, Tennessee–and started letting off shots ending with the deaths of three children and three staff members.

Not too long ago (April 23 to be exact), Tennessee lawmakers decided that the solution to said problem was to pass a bill that will allow teachers to be armed in schools.

Republican state Representative Ryan Williams had this to say to justify the bill passing…

“I believe that this is a method by which we can do that, because what you’re doing is you’re creating a deterrent.”

Democratic state Representative Bo Mitchell offered pushback by saying…

“This is what we’re going to do. This is our reaction to teachers and children being murdered in a school, our reaction is gonna throw more guns at it. What’s wrong with us?”
