Pop artist and fashion icon, Tiffany Young, today announced the release of her first U.S. project/EP, Lips On Lips. Out today, the EP consists of 5 songs, all connected with the themes of growing up, finding oneself and owning your own power. Since it’s release, Lips On Lips has catapulted to the #1 spot on the iTunes K-pop Albums Chart. One of the songs, “Runaway”, features a duet with legend, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmunds along with the title track, “Lips On Lips”; where Tiffany focuses on the intimacy and closeness of a kiss, and expands on the idea of sharing her most personal moments throughout the EP. Lips On Lips is distributed through Transparent Arts; and executive produced by Kev Nish of Far East Movement and A&R by Jon Yip of the Grammy Award winning production team, The Stereotypes (Bruno Mars). “Born Again”, Tiffany’s first single off Lips On Lips, received critical acclaim and created a huge buzz upon release last month.
“This song and music video was a very emotional and personal journey inspired by all the tragedy and pain I’ve had to mask with a smile throughout my career, and “Born Again” is symbolic of my passion to always fight to grow from these experiences,” Tiffany said of the Fernando Garibay (Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Whitney Houston)-produced single.
“Lips On Lips”, the title track, flawlessly portrays the overall theme of “intimacy” and “closeness” throughout this EP. Tiffany explains “The sound and theme is like a fairy tale or fantasy through pop music, in every fairy tale there is always a fight through struggle and pain right before the moment of triumph and then the kiss. Through tough times I’ve had to close my eyes and see the fairy tale fantasy, past the pain, everyone needs that.”
At a tender age, Tiffany suffered the loss of her mother and found her “religion”, music, as a way to heal and recognize her future path. Lips On Lips’ next single, “The Flower”, is a representative of that growth through pain.
Tiffany adds, “’Flowers’ represent a duality in my life: death and pain as well as , comfort and love through amazing times. I’ve smiled through some dark and painful moments in my life to then present myself poised and full of life like a flower, and I wrote this song with the intention of comforting anyone listening to it, through their struggle and hard time so that I could be the flower to their pain.”
For the end note of this emotional EP, Tiffany collaborated with icon and Grammy Award winning singer, songwriter, and producer, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmunds for the soaring track, “Runaway”. Reminiscent of a classic 90’s R&B song, “Runaway” represents the male/female relationship in a way that recalls the classics, but yet sets the tone of a young woman coming into her own in her life. Known for his soothing and melodic vocals, Babyface delivers on this track, elevating both of their voices for a song destined to become, “ear candy”.
“Working with Babyface on “Runaway” was a dream come to life for me. He is the master of bringing a listener into a fairy tale love world and his songwriting and melodies have lead countless songs that have comforted me my whole life. “Runaway” is the perfect end for me, and the perfect beginning into the next chapter” Tiffany reveals of the collaboration.
