‘A DANÇA EP’ is a 9-track project inspired by Afro-Brazilian culture. These ideas are personalized reflections on some parts of the culture, however, ‘A DANÇA’, translated to, ‘The Dance’ is a nod to the importance of dance in Afro-Brazilian culture. Dance as a way of telling stories. Dance as a cultural artifact. Dance as a unifying power in torn communities.
Featuring longtime collaborators 4i & Latir, ‘A DANÇA’ is an EP that further displays a chemistry between the artists that can be heard in the tracks.
The artwork, illustrated by DA himself, is inspired mainly by Hietor dos Prazeres, a Brazilian artist active in the 1950s, and known for painting colourful images of black people in Rio.
‘A DANÇA’ is a project that DA has been waiting to release for a while and it serves as just a taster for what is to come in 2018.
About DA:
DA is a London raised music producer who uses sound and image to express his personal reflections on the cultures that are important to him. Born in Lisbon of two Sao Tomean parents and raised in London, DA strives to use art to translate emotion, instinct and thought. DA takes pride in helping turn the imagination of poets, singers, and rappers into real life possibilities and platforming important narratives with the music he creates. Having worked London’s Poet Laureate, Caleb Femi, long time collaborator, 4i and Latir on more pensive themes, DA can be considered a facilitator of perspective.
