Chase Shakur welcomes you to the world of ‘WONDERLOVE’, his debut album, out now via Def Jam Recordings.
Chase Shakur uses conversational melody and insightful lyricism to paint a picture of love’s highs and lows.
Expanding his sonic world and deepening his exploration of relationship dynamics, Chase Shakur shares ‘WONDERLOVE’, his debut album.
Populated with swelling synths and subsonic bass, ‘WONDERLOVE’ is a shape-shifting and atmospheric effort, reflecting the contours of Chase’s mind as he progresses from infatuation to heartbreak and back, all in search of a love to encompass his whole being.
At times, like on the string-laden “FOCUS ON ME” and the aching ballad “CAN’T BLOCK THE SUN”, Chase aims to overwhelm the senses like the initial onslaught of lust, while songs like “LIMERENCE” and “FAIRYTALES IN MIDTOWN” featuring TyFontaine allow Chase to play the lothario, treating love like it’s a game.
Shaped by Chase and a team of producers that includes Isaiah Kaleo, Dahi, Go Grizzly, London Jae, and many more, the immersive ‘WONDERLOVE’ blends a variety of styles, adding textures to Chase’s delicate brand of R&B.
“UNDERCOVER ANGEL” borrows the hyperactive drums and commanding vocals of Miami bass, while the second half of “WANT U” features a break inspired by jungle and UK Garage.
“SEX N SADE” brims with the titular legend’s quiet storm, and “SAY THAT YOU WILL” uses syncopated kick drums that evoke J Dilla’s work with Slum Village.
Featuring an appearance from Smino on the spritely “LUV IN DA 6”, ‘WONDERLOVE’ is available on all platforms via Def Jam Recordings.
‘WONDERLOVE’ continues Chase Shakur’s run as one of the most exciting R&B artists in Atlanta and beyond.
He started his rise in 2022, after dropping out of school to focus on music and getting kicked out of his house in the process.
He quickly found success with his 2022 debut project, ‘It’ll Be Fine’, home to cult hits like “too far close” and “i don’t want to fall in love, it’s too late now”, which drew the attention of Def Jam Recordings.
2024 was a busy year for Chase Shakur, filled with new singles and high-profile performances.
In March, just before performing at Rolling Stone’s Future Of Music Showcase at SXSW, Chase shared “THE STUNT-MAN PACK”, a double single featuring “YOLANDA”, an airy, uptempo, and wistful club anthem, and the off-kilter slow jam “OPTIONS”.
Over the summer, Chase toured the globe with The Kid LAROI on the Australian artist’s “The First Time Tour”.
With his debut album out now, Chase Shakur aims to change the R&B conversation.
Surrender your senses and open your heart…welcome to the world of ‘WONDERLOVE’.
