Sister Music Duo Blessed Are ‘II Blessed’ On Their New EP

Pipped as serious ‘ones to watch’ this year, thanks to not only their double helping of sass and style but their flawless vocals, hypnotic harmonies and addictive blend of sounds, which they describe as ‘pop music with Caribbean flavour’, the exciting music duo BLESSED – made-up of south-east London sisters Loz and Gigi Morgan – have released their brand new EP ‘II Blessed’ (out now on all digital platforms via Island Records).

The follow-up to their summer single and visual ‘Love Me’ which kick-started the project, the 5-track EP is an introduction to BLESSED’s captivating and distinct sound, which sees them drawing on tropical dancehall rhythms, with a sprinkle of sunny Afrobeats, honeyed R&B vocals and south London swagger; perfectly encapsulating the melting pot of their native London. Featuring the achingly relatable, brand new Sky Adams-produced lead single ‘999’, which touches on relationship red flags missed through rose-tinted glasses and ‘All Night’, a sun-kissed banger about the frustrations of modern romance, which was produced by Jay Roxx and is the first song they say truly epitomized the “Blessed sound” – the EP also features the smooth and haunting ‘Enemy’ and the feisty and confident, break-up refrain of ‘Trust Me’.

Speaking on the new EP, BLESSED said:

“II (Two) Blessed EP is a great intro to who we are and represents the start of our journey to finding our sound. Our EP is a fusion of all of the things that have influenced us. From growing up in an R&B-heavy household, to using Caribbean sounds we take from our Jamaican heritage, gospel chords which reminds us of the great energy we took from church and developing our own sense of what pop music is to us. We hope our first EP brings positive energy and gives a taste of our early beginnings.”

Releasing ‘Love Me’ – the stand-out, self-love anthem which touches on their own journey of learning to love themselves in spite of the pressures that society can often present – and its Remi Laudat-directed visual back in September, BLESSED were already familiar to music fans, as their talent and unique sound saw them create some serious waves a couple of years back and receiving acclaim from titles such as i-D, Wonderland, Clash, Hunger, Notion, SBTV and more. Catching the attention of the iconic record label Island Records, who they are signed with, the girls have spent the past two years honing their craft and perfecting their one of a kind sonic.

With their new EP boasting a smart, cheeky collection of uplifting tunes touching on topics close to their heart from female empowerment, to relationships and navigating modern life as young women and with more new music set to be unleashed in the new year, listeners across the UK and far beyond are set to be well and truly BLESSED.
