Shantel May & Lola Brooke “Love It Here”

R&B singer-songwriter Shantel May unveils her new single, “Love It Here” featuring Lola Brooke, with a nod to The Isley Brothers’ classic “Footsteps In The Dark”.

Singer/songwriter Shantel May, the rising R&B sensation hailing from the city of Toronto, marks her official entry into the US music scene with the release of her MNRK Music Group debut single, “Love It Here”.

Featuring New York rapper Lola Brooke and produced by SK & K Major, the track is an enchanting blend of fierce, fun, confidence, and romantic vibes, encapsulating Shantel May’s unique perspective on life and love.

The forthcoming single showcases her vocal prowess and pays homage to The Isley Brothers’ classic “Footsteps In The Dark”, adding a nostalgic yet contemporary touch to the track.

As she reflects on recording the single, Shantel states, “I immediately fell in love with the Isley sample & knew it would be dope. The topic was bang on for me at the time so it was easy to connect/have fun wit. I think the girls gon like this one. It feels familiar but also new. Which is something I think I identify with a lot as an R&B artist, who mostly listens to throwbacks. This is my first female feature and Lola’s vibe fits perfectly.”

Born and raised in one of Toronto’s east-end housing projects, Shantel May found solace in music from an early age.

Using it as a tool to navigate life’s challenges, she has shattered barriers in her comfort zone.

From stairwell covers to sharing stages worldwide with DVSN on Drake’s tour and contributing to DVSN’s “A Muse In Her Feelings”, Shantel May’s trajectory in R&B is undeniable.

The early support from the Joe Budden podcast and collaborations with Westside Gunn, Rory, RAAHiiM, and more set the stage for the upcoming EP in 2024, featuring anticipated collaborations with Eric Bellinger, Tone Stith, and others.
