SHAKIRA: “It’s been a journey trying products and trying to repair my hair from all the damage for years of bleaching because my hair is originally jet black. Then I went from black hair to red…then I became blonde. I had straight hair, curly hair. Black and wavy and my hair was not always curly. My hair used to be wavy when I was younger and then with the years it just goes curlier and curlier and curlier. After I delivered my kids also it went even more curlier. So I have mixed textures in my hair and I find that there are a lot of women who are underserved in the hair category. I feel that Latinas and women in general, we spend so much money on hair products and we’re often disappointed with what’s out there. At least for me, I used to find products that claim that repair your hair and repair the bonds in your hair, but then they left it super dry. I have a sympathy.”

SHAKIRA: “I’m so proud of the work they did and I got my kids involved in movie too. They also had a very small role. It doesn’t matter. It was an example. It was an experience. They loved participating in the movie. They played the characters of two bunnies…I’ve watched it a couple times with my kids. They really loved it. And they were part of it…I love the message that it carries and it’s so important in this crazy world. And I got to participate in her wardrobe. Can she wear a light like outfit? Can she wear this and that? You did? Yeah. It was so cool. I was just lucky to be invited again, to do this again.”

SHAKIRA: “I got some artist friends invited. Some of them you know…[Portuguese] was actually the second language I learned before English…So when I was 18 years old, I used to tour in Brazil and I really absorbed the culture and love it and I have many Brazilian friends, so this is going to be very special for me [performing at Copacabana Beach].”

• [28:34] SHAKIRA ON HER SPAIN RESIDENCY AND UPCOMING U.S. TOUR TIED TO THE WORLD CUP MATCHES

SHAKIRA: “In the US, yes. Second leg in the US we’re going to be performing around the World Cup. [We have] many surprises. But you know, in the cities where there are the most important matches, most important games, I’m going to be next door playing… Obviously my kids can’t wait because they would love to attend some of the matches, but yeah, it’s going to be super, super special. And then I’m going to Spain to do–I think we’re going to be playing so far 11 shows.”
