Following the release of her “Cinderella” music video on June 11, R&B singer/songwriter Ryélle relinquishes the full short film for her new ‘SOLO‘ EP. Directed by Diego Cruz (director of Fabolous’ “Cold Summer” video), the short is a modern retelling of the original ‘Cinderella’ folk tale, co-starring rapper Mims.

The short begins with “Cinderella“, the first record from the two-song ‘SOLO‘ project. Produced by multi-platinum producer De-Capo (credits include T-Pain, Iggy Azalea, etc.), the Cinderella theme used here symbolizes the essence of time in the context of love and romance.

“Playa”, the second half of the short film and second record form the project, is a stark contrast to “Cinderella“. Produced by Pryme & Keyzz (credits include French Montana, Jadakiss, etc.), the song reflects the sentiments of moving on from love.

Originally written from the perspective of a guy, Ryélle flipped the song’s meaning to serve as a self-empowering anthem for women. In the video, we see the Cinderella character, an average house cleaner, fantasize about her prince while on the job, then transform into the stylish, show-stopping woman in “Playa”.

It’s a narrative that reflects the current state of Ryélle’s career, as she wrote, arranged, and engineered ‘SOLO‘ from her small New York apartment. She also spearheaded the short film’s production.
