This past Saturday, another shooting took place in Chicago. Unfortunately, 11 year-old Takiya Holmes (cousin of local activist, Andrew Holmes) would be a casualty of that shooting.
Before dying of a bullet to the head, Takiya was rushed off to Comer Children’s Hospital where she would be in critical condition at that time. Another girl, 12-year-old Kanari Gentry-Bowers (currently in critical condition at Stroger Hospital), took a stray bullet to the head 30 minutes before Takiya was shot.
Since then, community groups in Chicago have come together hoping for a call of action to curve the ongoing violence in the area. The results of that situation have yet to be determined.
As of right now, there’s a $2000 being offered for information that will eventually lead to the arrest & conviction of the suspect (who is currently unknown) that murdered Takiya Holmes. Our condolences go out to the family of Takiya Holmes.
