Production Team Soundsmith On Jeezy’s ‘American Dream’ Track & More w/@VannDigital

On the heels of his singles “Bottles Up” & “Cold Summer“, it looks like it’s going to be another big year for Jeezy. With that in mind, we recently chopped it up with Canadian production quartet Soundsmith to discuss Jeezy’s upcoming track “American Dream” & more below…

VannDigital: Tell us about yourselves.

Y-Not: This is Y-Not a producer in Soundsmith based out of Toronto, Canada. I’ve been creating music for most of my life.

Mac: Mac 1/4 of Soundsmith Productions. Hailing from Toronto, Canada.

Rebel: Rebel 1/4 of Soundsmith born and raised in Toronto, Ontario.

We see that people are talking about this upcoming Jeezy track, “American Dream”, like it’s not only going to be a guaranteed hit but a game changer as it includes featured vocals from J. Cole & Kendrick Lamar. How does that make y’all feel to be part of a groundbreaking moment???

Mac: It’s definitely a blessing and feels good to be apart of a record like this.

Y-Not: It’s a trip. The anticipation behind the release of this record and album is kinda crazy. Feels a little surreal. And like Mac said, it’s definitely a blessing.

Rebel: It’s a honor to be a part of something so anticipated like Cole and Kendrick on the same record again.

While we’re still on the “American Dream” track, will it be a single???

Rebel: Hopefully

Y-Not: We’re hoping that it will be.

Mac: Hopefully.

As Toronto natives, has the Hip-Hop scene come a long way or does it still have a long way to go???

Y-Not: Toronto has come a long way and our city definitely has a lot more talent to offer.

Mac: It has definitely grown, a lot more new artists now, but it still has ways to go.

Rebel: It has definitely come a long way I’m really happy the world is able to experience the Toronto culture through the music.

Could y’all produce boom-bap beats if asked to do so???

Y-Not: For sure.

Mac: We can create anything, we’re Soundsmith’s lol

Rebel: I have to echo Mac and say we are Soundsmiths, we can make anything.

Seeing that y’all have produced sounds for mostly mainstream artists, which underground artists would y’all like to make beats for if given the opportunity???

Y-Not: Conway and Westside Gunn

Mac: For me, Don Q

Who are the next artists on y’all production schedule???

Y-Not: We’re in talks with a few… just stay tuned

Mac: Gotta keep that a secret for now lol

Rebel: Stay tuned
