Pandora reveals listeners’ Top Thumb Hundred Favorite Love Songs to celebrate Valentine’s Day
New stations unveiled include Vintage Valentines, Classic Soul Love Songs, Power Ballads, and Handpicked 100: Valentines Shuffle
Pandora is celebrating Valentine’s Day by revealing its listeners’ most loved love songs over the past year on a special new station – Top Thumb Hundred Love Songs. Stations devoted to Vintage Valentines, Power Ballads, and Classic Soul Love Songs also debut, and the Handpicked 100: Valentines Shuffle, a station lovingly crafted by Pandora’s passionate team of music curators.
Ed Sheeran is Pandora’s King of Hearts, scoring the #1 song (“Thinking Out Loud”) on Pandora’s Top Thumb Hundred Love Songs, along with two additional songs on the list (including “Perfect” coming in at #9). The only other artist with three songs is Usher. The love songs Pandora listeners thumbed the most in the past year were spread across all of the platform’s most popular genres – Pop, Country, Hip Hop, R&B, Latin, and Dance. Present-day listeners are also discovering and thumbing love songs from the past. Songs from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, 2010s all made the list. The Temptations “Get Ready” is the oldest on the list, released in February of 1966, and Adele’s “Oh My God” is the newest entry from November of 2021.
Only Pandora lets users “thumb” songs to create a personalized listening experience that evolves with their taste and preferences. By tapping the thumbs-up icon when they hear a song they like (or thumbs-down when they don’t), listeners enable Pandora’s recommendation technology to serve up the perfect songs for each user and every moment. With over 100 billion (and counting), Pandora’s user-generated thumbs are a unique barometer for what listeners love most.
The new Valentine’s Day stations join Pandora’s already rich romantic offerings that include genre-specific stations like Classic Rock Love Songs, Country Love Songs, Reggaeton Romantico, Romånticas de Hoy, Classical Romance, Alt/Indie Love Songs, and others, as well as decade-focused stations like 80s Love Songs, 90s Love Songs, and more. Pandora even has Love Stinks, a station for anti–love anthems.
