Today, singer-songwriter Nikki Jean delivers her Rhymesayers Entertainment debut project, Beautiful Prison.
The Saint Paul, Minnesota native’s new, seven-track effort includes the singles “Pink Lemonade”, “Mr Clean” featuring Lupe Fiasco, “People & Planes”, and more. With Beautiful Prison, Nikki Jean firmly establishes herself as both an innovative songwriter and a vocal advocate for empowerment.
What really drives you?
In the self-directed music video for the standout track, “Driver”, Nikki Jean pays a visit to her alma mater, Howard University, and surrounds herself with women whose creativity and contributions to society inspire her immensely.
What began as an attempt to celebrate strength and unity quickly evolved into a desire to amplify her fellow artists’ stories, ultimately moving Nikki to create a short film about perseverance, for which the video now serves as just a taste of what’s to come.
As a result of her efforts, Nikki Jean is scheduled to speak this evening at IDEA-GEN, a global UN summit focused on empowering women and girls, where her forthcoming documentary Get Free will premiere in conjunction with her speech. Watch the “Driver” video now, and stay tuned for the full Get Free film.
