The interpretation and portrayal of “real“, a single phrase that drives this diverse world known as hip hop. However, as the world of hip hop grows, the definition of “the real” becomes more obscure and the lines dividing real from imagined become more blurred; but what of the world? What of the real life problems, mistakes, answers and directions derived from the real-istic, we’d learn to depend upon? It would seem that as our definitions drift farther away from the truth..our world would as well.

After releasing the mellow-vibed “B.S.W.T.” track about a month ago, Rey Stackz drops the second installment from his upcoming ‘A Divine Intervention‘ project, entitled “Roll Call“. The track features a percussion driven beat from SC producer Ricc T; the insane high hats along with the extreme levels of bass make this beat the perfect canvas for Stackz‘ two verses and chant-like hook. Stackz uses the verses to provide mirror images of the obscure interpretation of “real” portrayed and re-enacted by many misguided youth from gang life to selling drugs. Tying it together with the seemingly cliche chant of “SHOUTS OUT TO MY REAL NIGGAS” over the hook, Stackz has unknowingly created THE real nigga anthem of his progressive-minded generation.
