Jennifer Mekel achieves great success with “Great God“!!!

The Choir Mistress, one of Gospel music’s rising stars, finds Top 40 success with the legendary Boys & Girls Choir of Harlem Alumni Ensemble.

Natives of Akron, OH have known about their hometown treasure, Jennifer Mekel, for years. Her annual concerts with the Akron Symphony’s Gospel Meets Symphony Choir are sold out, “must attend” affairs. Each Sunday, she dons her robes to direct the choir at Mount Calvary Baptist Church solidifying their status as a leading vocal ensemble in Ohio. Now, Mekel commands the national stage with “Great God (POWAMM LLC)” joined on record by one of America’s most legendary vocal ensembles, The Boys & Girls Choir of Harlem Alumni Ensemble (BGCH Alumni).

“Great God” vaults into the Gospel Top 40 this week with WPRS in Washington, DC, WCAO in Baltimore, MD, WNNL in Raleigh, NC, & WBBP in Memphis, TN leading the charge, joined this week by WTHB in Augusta, GA. Pat McKay, programmer for Kirk Franklin’s Praise on SiriusXM, recently hosted Jennifer Mekel & The BGCH Alumni for a live in-studio performance.

Jennifer Mekel is a prolific singer/songwriter, she is also a licensed ordained minister having graduated from the University of Akron & Ashland Theological Seminary. In addition to her role as Choir Mistress at the Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Akron, OH in the areas of pastoral care & worship, Mekel is a worship leader & instructs Bible Study along with music workshops for the surrounding community. Mekel believes that it is through service to others that we serve God. She uses her position as coordinator of a community initiative called The Pastors’ Project to create awareness, educate clergy, & the community regarding drug abuse, chemical dependency, & mental illness.
