A while back, it was announced that Jay Electronica & DOOM would link up for a track that would be included in ‘Adult Swim’s Singles‘ series. It was later revealed that it would be part of a weekly release from DOOM titled ‘The Missing Notebook Rhymes‘ which is a 15-week series where the Metal Faced Man would share tracks that were previously unreleased.
The first single premiered last week, titled “Negus” featuring Sean Price, which would later end up on Price’s recently released posthumous album ‘Imperius Rex‘ which you can stream & cop here on VannDigital. Today, DOOM decides to follow it up with a collab with Jay Electronica.
The collabo track in question is titled “True Lightyears” which has DOOM jumping shit off with a short hook with Jay Elect sliding through with a minute-long verse over a flute-inspired beat. “True Lightyears” will also be on the upcoming album from KMD which is the group DOOM got his start in back 1988 under the name Zev Love X and would later dissolve following two albums after DOOM’s brother & KMD co-founder DJ Subroc was killed after being hit by a car while attempting to cross the Long Island Expressway.
The KMD album in question will be titled ‘Crack In Time‘, according to NPR, and will be released via Metalface Records/Nature Sounds Music. The release date for said album is currently unknown.
