No stranger to tough talk & lyrical beatdowns, Freeway isn’t mincing words on his latest track, “Primates”. Like his previous drop, “Bombdroppaz”, this joint is another bruising and neck-snapping collaboration with Amsterdam’s Big Ape.
The horns & strings-laced slapper emphasizes the best parts about the Philly Freezer & his trademark gruff vocals. Free embraces the energy of Big Ape’s instrumental and goes the fuck off on his verses filled with varied cadences, clever wordplay, & menacing bravado. Funny enough, the emcee actually addresses those talents in some of his opening rhymes: “When it comes to flows, I’m the rapper with the mostest / Shut down the party, it don’t matter who the host is.”
While Freeway can certainly kick some knowledge with his raps, he can also stand alongside any rapper trying to flex on a track. And that’s exactly what he’s doing on “Primates”, which is all about bully raps spread across a heavy instrumental, with dextrous cuts courtesy of Sweden’s DJ Devastate.
“Primates” & its B-side, “Bombdroppaz”, are now available for stream & download through all major digital retailers, via Elite Fleet Records, and drops next Friday on wax, as a limited edition blue 7-inch.
