Toronto collective CMDWN release their new single "Solange Hair" featuring Atlanta rapper Lil Yachty today. This upbeat, feel-good track is a playful ode to Solange's hair and marks the 2nd collaboration between CMDWN and longtime friend Lil' Yachty, following their 2018 single/video collaboration "The Way She Move" which has garnered 2m streams to date.
On "Solange Hair", the bright, bouncy production by Brandon Mitchell sets the stage for Lil Yachty, Fiji and Castro Guapo to go bar for bar, displaying their playful bravado and catchy one-liners. "We've been homies with Yachty for a few years now and everything we do together is always organic," says Fiji. "He will randomly send us tracks to hop on from time to time and 'Solange Hair' was one of those he sent at the beginning of the year."
Ca$tro Guapo adds "When Fiji got the track from Yachty and sent it to me, I knew right away that I wanted to hop on it… we went to the studio together and knocked it out the same night."
CMDWN is comprised of Ca$tro Guapo, Fiji, and producer/DJ Teo Nio. Since forming in 2015, the collective thrives in its mission to push new sounds and creative ideas forward. Following the release of their first formal project, 2016's 'ATLANADA', CMDWN were propelled into the spotlight and a life of touring, supporting acts such as Rae Sremmurd, Playboi Carti, and Lil Uzi Vert. 2017's 'Ca$tro vs. Fiji' mixtape was followed up with the aforementioned "The Way She Move" single, and "Die In Supreme" featuring Nessly.
In August 2018, CMDWN released their follow up full-length project, 'ATLANADA 2', which earned over 13 million streams in its first week, brilliantly merging influences from Atlanta and Toronto's rap scenes with features from Chief Keef, Lil Wop, KILLY, and Pressa.
