Ahead of CJ Fly’s highly anticipated March 6th release of his debut album RUDEBWOY, the rising Brooklyn rapper and Pro Era Records standout releases his newest single “Grew Up” [feat. Haile Supreme] today. Following suit of his previous releases, “Grew Up” is a personal, autobiographical Statik Selektah [Freddie Gibbs, Bun B] produced track that gives us an intimate look into CJ’s past.
In “Grew Up”, CJ takes us on a trip down memory lane, sharing tough experiences from his past that led him and his friends to grow up at a young age. Recalling times in the streets that affected him and his friends, CJ’s vocals flow in and out as the hook comes in with the powerful, “and after that we grew up”.
On the track, CJ says,“‘Grew Up’ is a reflection of surviving certain experiences in the streets of Brooklyn that forced me to mature at a young age.”
Continuing to build his discography, “Grew Up” follows CJ’s first 2020 release with the track and video “Show You”. Last year’s “City We From” [feat. Conway the Machine] and “RUDEBWOY” [feat. Joey Bada$$] turned heads.
With a new album on the way, this is just the beginning of the CJ Fly era.
