MP3: CJ Fly feat. Conway The Machine – City We From [Prod. Statik Selektah]

On the heels of widespread critical acclaim, New York phenomenon and rising Pro Era Records rapper CJ Fly releases his new single “City We From” featuring Conway The Machine today.

Produced by Statik Selektah [Freddie Gibbs, Bun B], the track hinges on throwback piano and a staggered beat reminiscent of timeless East Coast rap with a modern take. CJ Fly eases into a hard-hitting and hypnotic flow announcing, “Just take this as a warning” before dropping vivid quotable lyrics such as “Cali weed and New York oxygen is what I exhale, my lines always go over your head like chemtrails.” Meanwhile, Conway The Machine contributes an impressive cameo of his own. Together, they deliver a 21st century New York anthem.

About the single, CJ shared, “‘City We From’ is a pretty self-explanatory title. It represents what it’s like to be from where Conway (The Machine)—hailing from Buffalo—and myself in Brooklyn are from. All around, it’s some classic New York rap inspired by real life experiences.”

The song follows last month’s “RUDEBWOY” featuring Joey Bada$$. Billboard proclaimed it, “rowdy”, and Earmilk described it as a “patois-tinged jam” in addition to coverage by HYPEBEAST, Okayplayer, HotNewHipHop, and many others. Right now, it’s closing in on 1 million global streams and over 555,000 views for the music video.

With new music on the way, CJ Fly won’t be stopping anytime soon.
