MP3: Bobby J From Rockaway & Daru Jones – Take It Personal (Rob Swift Remix)

The legendary Rob Swift shows off his absolutely mind-blowing creativity and turntable skills on his new remix of “Take It Personal”, a single from the duo of Bobby J From Rockaway & Daru Jones.

The original track stems from their collaborative, aptly titled ‘One Mic & Drum‘ LP that features Bobby spitting straight fire over Daru’s incredible drum breaks. And while “Take It Personal” was an already-dope homage to Gang Starr’s classic track of the same name, Swift takes the tribute to another level with his rework.

The New Yorker utilizes Bobby’s acapella vocals and cuts them across DJ Premier’s production on the original “Take It Personal”. That mashup-style approach would have been good enough, but Swift isn’t done there. He then flexes his scratching skills and juggles the beat and vocals to transform the track into something entirely new.
