Missy Elliott fans, you ready? Earlier this year, it was announced Missy will play her first solo U.S concert since 2008 when she takes to the stage at the FYF Fest in Los Angeles (July 21-23). Other headliners include Frank Ocean and Solange.
This appearance is a long time coming for fans. The singer has been flying under the radar since announcing she has Graves disease nine years ago. Elliott has made a hand full of small appearances since then, including hitting the stage as Katy Perry's special guest at the 2015 Super Bowl half time show. She's also had a few roles in the TV world. But what fans really want is new music, and this announcement is just preparing us for what's to come.
Elliott released the single "I'm Better" earlier this year, her first since the 2016 hit "Pep Rally". That small taste – coupled with her loyal fanbase and everlasting popularity – has her poised to be one of the best-selling female artists of 2017 when the new album eventually lands.
While "I'm Better" didn't shoot up the charts, peaking at 71 on the Billboard Hot 100, Missy is building momentum and getting back into the spotlight, collaborating with Mary J. Blige on her new hit "Glow Up" and gracing the cover of Elle magazine's Women in Music issue.
Elliott will be headlining FYF Fest's Friday night show. It's her only scheduled concert of the year (so far).
