It was all good about two weeks ago when a jumpy Miguel landed leg first onto a female audience member at the Billboard Music Awards, slamming her head into the stage (from what it looked like on television) but then joining the smiling fan on-camera to confirm she was OK.
Now, in addition to the “Adorn” singer facing a potential lawsuit, the victim, Khyati Shah, may also be suffering from brain damage.
“Some of the difficulties she’s experiencing are cognitive in nature and lead to suspicion of a neurological head injury,” Vip Bhola, Shah’s lawyer tells TMZ.
Bola says that the BMA staff responded with an ice pack the night of the incident though he feels his client should have been rushed to the hospital. According to a recent interview with BBC Radio 1xtra, the Grammy-winning artist said she was just fine.
“There’s a natural inclination to make sure everyone is OK but then there’s like ‘the show must go on’ [mentality] which is professionalism so that kicks in but what sucks is that people don’t get to see what happens when the camera goes off,” he said. “As soon as the camera goes off, I’m rushing to the girl, making sure she’s OK, saying ‘Let me take you to the infirmary,’ talk to her…I haven’t watched it but I remember the feeling, just standing there, not knowing what to say…It was the most awkward thing but I’m glad she’s alright. At least, everyone got a good laugh out of it.”
Shah’s lawyer says that once she receives the definitive results from a neurologist, she will decide if she should take legal action.
