Megan Thee Stallion Explains What ‘Traumazine’ Means

Swaggy Sie: What does 'Traumazine' represent for you?

Megan Thee Stallion: Well, to me 'Traumazine' basically means like, facing yourself, like what you go through when you finally decide to accept what you've been through and come out on the other end as the person that you see yourself becoming, or that you wanna be. So I feel like I had to make up a new word for this new experience that I'm going through.

Swaggy Sie: Yo, when I looked at your page and I saw the definition, I had to go into like Webster to see if it was there.

Megan Thee Stallion: They gonna put it in there now I believe that they're gonna have to put that in there.

Swaggy Sie: They gonna put that in there for sure. What do you feel like that reflection period was like for you and, and really translate that into the music?

Megan Thee Stallion: I'm definitely still going through it. I feel like everybody that has been through something, like they can kind of see it on other people that have been through something. And I feel like we kind of got this like language where, okay, I understand you might be having a bad day. It might not have nothing to do with me so let me treat you with a little bit more courtesy. You know what I'm saying? Like, I feel like I could tell when somebody is like a tough person and you know, probably why they might be a little tough. I don't know everybody's story, but like, I just wanna, I just feel like I wanna treat people how I would want everybody to treat me, you know what I'm saying? But anyways, my reflection journey, I feel like it's still happening, but I know that I'm, I've been through these things and I know I'm not perfect. And I know, I know it's gonna get better, but I'm accepting the fact that I have to go on this journey to get there. Some of the things are uncomfortable to say out loud, right? Like you have to say 'em to yourself, but it, you know, I'm going through that awkward little uncomfortable phase.

Swaggy Sie: That's okay though, that in that phase, you, you find out a lot about yourself, but this is like, I, I feel like this has been a process for you cause when we were talking and, and before I think that was 2020 and you were telling me about, you know, taking some time for yourself and reflecting and watching movies by yourself, taking this off on dates. Like you've been on this journey, you know.

Megan Thee Stallion: I've been on this journey, but I feel like it's probably a little bit more intense than it was like, I feel like when something happens to me, I kind of like push it to the side. Like, and I, I kind of work through everything. Like if something's bothering me, I don't like sit down and talk about it or I'm not like expressing myself. I'm just like, okay, well throw a bunch of stuff on my calendar so I could like, not even think about it. But now I'm like, okay girl, let's talk about it. Cause I'm sick of talking to people and exploding…

Megan Thee Stallion Explains Wiping Her Social Media as a ‘Rebirth’ & ‘Clean Slate’

Swaggy Sie: The first thing that I saw this hint, when I was paying attention to your page. I mean, I don't like to say I was stalking you but I, I realized you, you deleted a lot of posts and I mean, what was that like going into album mode?

Megan Thee Stallion: I feel like I just wanted to start my page over. Like, okay, that was, that was then this is now mm-hmm, like pay attention to this. And I kind of like, I'm not like OCD, but like when I got my mindset on how something should look like, we just gotta start from there. Like I needed exactly how I said I wanted it to be. So, I kind of just wanted to clean it up and like, just start from this new chapter, I'm starting for myself.

Swaggy Sie: The dope part was this trailer and it left everybody like on the edge of their seats. We see you in the black, and then we see you in the white, what was that representation like for you?

Megan Thee Stallion: It's like, I went to this place and I'm leaving this person where they were like, I appreciate everything that we've been through Megan. Like, you know what I'm saying? Like, but we don't feel like that no more. We, we growing from there, we getting bigger from there. Like we just only elevating. So, me coming out of that pain, you know, we're, we're out here now. We coming out on this end of it. It's kinda like a clean slate.

Megan Thee Stallion Wanted to Prove Men Wrong Working with Future on “Pressurelicious”

Swaggy Sie: What was it like connecting with Future, somebody who has been around for years and you know, really doing this plaque after plaque at the plaque. And of course, you have been collaborating with so many artists, but why, why Future on this record?

Megan Thee Stallion: I just feel like, you know, all the boys be talking shit about being toxic and you know, I mean, y'all are the only ones that, you know, come with pressure with us too. So the hot girls have to show, you know, whatever the boys call themselves, we had to show them what was up.

Swaggy Sie: They just toxic that's they don't even…

Megan Thee Stallion: There ain’t even no substance to it. Y'all just toxic. Like, and just be like, ‘yeah, we up Kings’ and they be like, ‘what Y'all doing?’….

Megan Thee Stallion Misses Strip Club Chicken Wings

Megan Thee Stallion: Being vegetarian is very hard. It was very hard at first. I'm like almost seven months in now. The longer I go, the easier it is like to not care about meat. I'm just, I stopped eating meat because it kind of was making my stomach hurt. And I was like, ‘why is my stomach hurt so much? What am I putting in my body? That's messing me up like this.’ So, I was like, let me just try not to eat meat. And I haven't ate it in a while. And now I'm just like, oh, sure. Okay.

Swaggy Sie: I mean, I'm, I'm three years pescatarian. I ain’t gonna lie, I miss a chicken wing, man.

Megan Thee Stallion: I feel like chicken wings was my primary diet, like strip club chicken wings, like are my favorite, like… You know what? I ain't never been to Starless. Strip clubs in the south got me so spoiled.

Swaggy Sie: Yeah, cause y'all got… you get everything.

Megan Thee Stallion: We got the full package. First of all, everywhere outside of the south, I'm confused. Like I, we twerking in the south. Everybody walk up to you front ways in the club. Like yeah, no, it's just boobs. And I'm like, turn around. like what? What's happening? Where's the ass.

Swaggy Sie: Yeah. No New York is definitely different. It's not, it's not all that. I think that's why we gotta go extra hard. Like everything else, the presentation gotta be…

Megan Thee Stallion: The presentation is beautiful. But I don't mind the ratchet strip club. Like girl, you could come about them shoes, whatever you trying to do… like sit down to eat the chicken with me. Like y'all got too many rules out here, like is very much, a gentleman's club. It's not giving strip club.
