Lyric Michelle – Like Me [MP3]

The metamorphosis from caterpillar to butterfly is one that is steeped in wonder but for some, the transformation ushers in a whole new set of problems. This concept is explored in Lyric Michelle’s very personal song, “Like Me“, wherein she explores the power of sexuality and the often hefty price tag that goes with it. The song, which was produced by Chris Rockaway, will appear on Lyric’s fall release, ‘Free Thoughts‘.

Lyric tells The Houston Chronicle, who recently premiered the song:

“This song is about a time in my life that I realized as a black woman my physical appearance would be valued over my voice.”
