LION BABE release new single, "Harder", featuring Hip-Hop legend Busta Rhymes.
Off the heels of their third studio album 'Rainbow Child', the dynamic New York alt-R&B/Soul duo LION BABE–comprised of singer-songwriter and performance artist Jillian Hervey and producer/DJ Lucas Goodman aka Astro Raw–have released their first single of 2022, "Harder", featuring Busta Rhymes.
An electrifying combination of up-tempo House & Hip-Hop produced by Astro Raw and International House producer-DJ Mike Nasty, "Harder" demonstrates Jillian's ability to keep the party dancing with her signature vocals and mesmerizing melodies, while exchanging energetic rap verses with the Hip-Hop legend Busta Rhymes. The single is currently featured on the "NBA 2K22" video game and soundtrack released in September 2021.
Speaking on the new single, LION BABE's Jillian and Lucas said:
"'Harder' is about pushing forward into your self-love, power and strength as the world continues to be more challenging. It is an upbeat track for the world to release its energy to. Entering the realm of House + Dance music, we also wanted to mix in elements of 90's New York jazz and soul sonics. Hip Hop legend Busta Rhymes seals the deal, lending his explosive energy, iconic flow, and voice to the record making it truly 'Harder'."
Co-producer Mike Nasty adds:
"'Harder' brings elements of Jazz and Hip-Hop to the world of House music. We wanted the record to be tasteful for the underground but also cater to the average listener. It's great to see what this record has become. We've been working on it for quite some time now. I'm excited to see this tune make an impact on dance music globally. There's a special sound coming out of New York City this year."
Released in the summer of 2021, LION BABE's 'Rainbow Child' album was created "in response to the heightened pain and injustice Black lives have been experiencing". The visual album led with the colorful, art-inspired single "Frida Kahlo", and offers features by Ghostface Killah of the legendary, Billboard-topping group Wu-Tang Clan, as well as the majestic soul duo OSHUN, Trinidad James, and Siimbiie Lakew, who is featured on the smooth, soulful "Signs".
Since 2014, the duo have garnered an impressive music catalogue with over 250 million worldwide streams and have collaborated with some music favorites such as rapper/actor Childish Gambino, Pharrell Williams, Raekwon, and house music sibling duo, Disclosure, who featured the New York natives on their smash single "Hourglass". In 2018, HBO's original series "Insecure" recruited LION BABE for their singles "Hit The Ceiling" and "Just Me", which were broadcasted for Seasons 1, 3, and 4. The band have also made appearances at festivals such as Coachella, AFROPUNK, Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds, Smokin' Grooves, Milkshake (Amsterdam), and Australia's Wildlands, Beyond The Valley, and Original Fields.
