Everybody needs a good laugh from time to time and the following story below calls for a real good one.
According to Live 5 News:
Police officers have arrested a North Charleston man who they say attempted to speed away from officers while his car was in park.
The Charleston Police Department arrested 20-year-old Leroy Joe Small on Tuesday and charged him with failure to stop for blue lights.
He was given a $10,000 bond.
On Tuesday shortly after midnight, officers were in the area of King and Romney streets when they stopped a car for a traffic violation.
One of the officers said he saw the passenger of the car making movements towards the rear passengers seats.
According to a report, when the officer asked the passenger and the driver, identified as Small, to get out, Small looked directly at one of the officers and stepped on the gas pedal.
However, police said Small's car was still in park.
It was at this time, the passenger, a 20-year-old woman, said,"Boy, what the **** are you doing?"
CPD officials say the suspect then put the car in drive, turned off his lights and went down on King Street.
Three minutes later, after officers sent out a BOLO on the car, emergency officials reported that the North Charleston Police Department had stopped the car at Clements and Spruill avenues.
NCPD officers then ordered the driver and passenger out of the car.
Small was also cited for improper lane use.
