Kalan.FrFr aspires to ‘Make The West Great Again’ on his new EP plus unveils his “Everybody” official music video.
Kalan.FrFr officially tees off his ‘Make The West Great Again’ campaign.
Today, the Roc Nation rapper unveils his latest entry, the follow-up to 2023’s ‘Not Hard 2 Understand’ EP.
The 8-track project, out now, unfurls into a cohesive body of work that’s primed to ignite the resurgence of West Coast dominance in rap.
Along with the new project, Kalan shares the supporting visual for his Bankroll Got It-produced smash single “Everybody”.
Directed by Benmarc, the video showcases the burgeoning artist surrounded by a united front as he brings the song’s bold lyrics to life.
‘Make The West Great Again’ is a potent collection of digital melodies and hair-raising percussion that lays a perfect foundation for Kalan’s summer takeover.
The new EP features appearances from YG, Ty Dolla $ign, G Herbo, and Spooky Jay.
‘MTWGA’ arrives on the heels of Kalan’s big-name collaboration, entitled “3 Days”, with 2X Grammy-nominated recording artist and producer Steve Aoki.
The South Central-bred rapper has consistently captivated audiences with his laid-back flow and magnetic allure.
He’s quietly emerged as one of the frontrunners of the underground hip-hop scene, has been featured on the biggest editorial playlists (across all DSPs), and commanded the attention of major publications.
Kalan.FrFr’s new EP is exactly what fans might have expected from the rising star.
He brings a melodic twist to street rap at a time where the game is undergoing a cultural transformation.
‘Make The West Great Again’ balances brassy trap and blockbuster features with sing-songy moments like “Silhouette”.
In line with that approach, Kalan showcases a unique blend of contrasting flows and vocal cadences.
About Kalan.FrFr:
If you want to get a sense of how deeply respected Kalan is among his peers, just look at the shortlist of his collaborators, a who’s who of modern West Coast rap and R&B: Ohgeesy, Blxst, G Perico, Mozzy, Dom Kennedy, BlueBucks Clan, 1TakeJay, and Westside Boogie.
On the Los Angeles asphalt, he’s a mythological figure who has somehow avoided corny myth-making.
We can list his hits starting from when “Right Wit It” became a mandatory drop at every house party from San Diego to Seattle or mention the “Hot N’ Ready Freestyle”, where Kalan proved that he could spit as hard as any rapper in your Top 5.
We can talk about his scene-stealing performance on Destiny Rogers’ “West Like”, where Kalan comes off like a young Roger Troutman.
We can cite his melodic reveries on the ‘Puma Mixtape’.
But when the new album drops, the overarching vision will become crystal clear.
The story of how he got here isn’t as important as where he’s going.
