KOCO 5 is officially on pardon watch for the man known as “Joe Exotic.”
Eric Love, the lead advocate for Team Tiger, told KOCO 5 on Monday that they are all but certain Joseph Maldonado-Passage will receive a pardon. And now, they’re just waiting on that call.
Maldonado-Passage is in a Fort Worth, Texas, prison waiting to see if President Donald Trump, in his final hours in the Oval Office, will grant him a pardon.
“We’ve delivered everything that I wanted to do on this project,” Love said Monday night. “I am absolutely confident that we are going to receive the pardon tomorrow (Tuesday). We worked very hard on it.”
Love said Team Tiger awaits the decision and they’ve been preparing for Maldonado-Passage’s release. In the meantime, with a limo on standby, they are ready to take him to a secure location.
“We’ve got hair, makeup, wardrobes. Trust me, anything you can think of we have it, including a doctor and also a mental health expert,” Love said. “Joe’s biggest thing is he can’t wait to get out, as you can imagine, and he doesn’t want anyone to see him until his hair is done.”
Maldonado-Passage was sentenced to 22 years in prison in a murder-for-hire plot and for violating wildlife laws. Team Tiger sent a 257-page pardon application, which was filed last September.
Love told KOCO 5 that he can’t say if Maldonado-Passage plans to come back to Oklahoma for the long-term, but he does say the Netflix sensation will always love the Sooner State.
