Jerrod Carmichael Awarded Donkey Of The Day

Jerrod Carmichael has been awarded Donkey Of The Day for making a cringe slavery joke as well as calling out Dave Chappelle’s legacy.

A while back, comedian/actor Jerrod Carmichael premiered his documentary series “Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show” on HBO.

On the show’s recent episode (that ran on April 5, 2024), Carmichael made a joke about slavery (keeping in mind that he is a gay Black man with a White boyfriend) that came off as straight up cringe.

The joke started with “I sometimes joke to him that our relationship is like that of a slave and a master’s son … who, like, teaches me how to read by candlelight.”

Laughing yet??? 🤔

Carmichael finished the “joke” by saying “Yeah, he groans too ’cause he’s a good person. He doesn’t like that fucking joke. I like that joke. That’s my burden, I think that shit’s hilarious!!’”

Making matters worse, Carmichael took more shots at Dave Chappelle which started in an interview he did with GQ Magazine back in 2022 with the following rant…

“Look, I get it. Everybody’s got to create a boogeyman to sell tickets. But it’s not true. Who’s getting canceled for what they’ve said? What does that mean, that people are mad on Twitter? Everybody’s fine. These grown men are fine. I think, a lot of times, people who offer nothing truthful or meaningful about themselves then complain about society at large and create this boogeyman. It’s like, listen, that’s the most urgent thing in your life? God bless you. I’m tired of hearing it. Chappelle, do you know what comes up when you Google your name, bro? That’s the legacy? Your legacy is a bunch of opinions on trans shit? It’s an odd hill to die on. And it’s like, hey, bro. Who the fuck are you? Who do you fuck? What do you like to do? Childish jokes aside, who the fuck are you? It’s just kind of played. But he’s choosing to die on the hill. So, alright, let him.”

Recently, Carmichael doubled-down on the Chappelle shots in a recent interview with Esquire Magazine with the following rant…

“He took it as ‘Fuck Dave Chappelle,’ because he’s an egomaniac. He wanted me to apologize to him publicly or some shit.”
