Hassan Smith Elevated To Senior Advisor To John Legend

Hassan Smith elevated to senior advisor to John Legend after serving as long-time key member of his management team.

John Legend announced today the promotion of Hassan Smith to the role of Senior Advisor. Smith will continue to report directly to John Legend.

In making the announcement, Legend said, “Hassan has been a trusted friend, advisor and member of my inner circle for over 15 years. I look forward to continuing to work and grow with him in this next chapter.”

Smith commented “Throughout my years working with John, it has been a joy to support the brand in such meaningful ways. John Legend is a phenomenal artist, an astute business mind, and champion for social justice. I’m honored to serve as John’s senior advisor as we continue to expand his global impact through his powerful voice as a musician and an activist.”

Hassan K. Smith previously served as a critical member of John Legend’s Tour Management Team for well over a decade. He began his professional journey with John Legend by providing executive protection services to the Grammy and Oscar winning artist, assuming more responsibilities and a myriad of roles over time until arriving at his current position as Senior Advisor.

Prior to joining Legend’s team, he was a young entrepreneur who founded Elite Personal Protection, a private security company which he later sold, but not before developing a passion for business and strategic investment. Smith is Founder of Ellaby Holdings LLC, where the various companies he has founded and invested in reside.

Hassan’s appreciation for building community connections developed at a young age. Raised in Boston’s Roxbury neighborhood, he benefited from early mentors who took notice of his ambition and drive. Transitioning to a selective independent school in Grade 10, he quickly recognized the quality of education that he was afforded which he otherwise may not have received.

Still keeping in touch with his early role models, he quickly transitioned to becoming a mentor himself to young people looking to elevate and expose themselves to a broader worldview. He is proud to serve on the Board of Directors for Youth Enrichment Services (YES) in Boston, Board of Trustee’s for Morris Brown College in Atlanta and The 100 Black Men of Atlanta as just a few ways to stay rooted in the original network that shaped his future.

Smith holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Northeastern University and enjoys speaking with young professionals about the power of networking, identifying one’s core values, and finding one’s professional passion.
