Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Awarded Donkey Of The Day For Banning African American Studies

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has been awarded Donkey Of The Day for banning African American studies.

It doesn’t seem to be looking good for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis as of right now.

But then again, when does it ever look good for DeSantis lol???

This time around, DeSantis as well as the Florida Department of Education went out of their way to ban Advanced Placement African American Studies in all Florida public schools.

Now, what was the reasoning behind this???

An African American studies course lacks educational value,” DeSantis said. “We believe in teaching kids facts and how to think, but we don’t believe they should have an agenda imposed on them. When you try to use Black history to shoehorn in queer theory, you are clearly trying to use that for political purposes.”

Is that right???

Digging a little deeper, the Florida Department of Education stated their list of “concerns found within” said course and zeroed in on the following five topics:

  • Intersectionality and activism
  • Black queer studies
  • Movements for Black lives
  • The reparations movement
  • Black study and Black struggle in the 21st Century

According to one of the listed concerns, “Intersectionality is foundational to CRT (critical race theory), and ranks people based on their race, wealth, gender and sexual orientation.”

Of course, none of this came without any pushback.

House Minority Leader Fentrice Driskell, D-Tampa, mentioned that the DeSantis administration’s decision to ban Advanced Placement African American Studies is the “first of what I believe will be many attempts to whitewash history in order to suit emotionally fragile people.”

Rev. R.B. Holmes, pastor of Bethel Missionary Baptist, mentioned…

Black history matters. Black history is not inferior. And Black history does not lack educational value.”

Holmes added…

We’re organizing a campaign to have a real conversation, a positive conversation, on the quality of teaching and learning about all people’s history – and not at the expense of erasing and eliminating Black studies.”

To no surprise, the DeSantis administration doubled down on their decision.

DeSantis press secretary Bryan Griffin had this to say in a statement…

As submitted, the course is a vehicle for a political agenda and leaves large, ambiguous gaps that can be filled with additional ideological material, which we will not allow.”

Sound like the hurtage is getting real for the DeSantis administration lol.

At any rate, Charlamagne Tha God offered his perspective on this situation and you can give what that is a listen below…
