A judge has sentenced South Carolina ex-cop, Michael Slager (above), to 20 years in prison for murdering unarmed Black man Walter Scott as he ran away back in 2015.
NBC News says:
“U.S. District Judge David Norton, in issuing the sentence, said Slager had shot Scott with “malice and recklessness,” and then gave false testimony to investigators. Norton ruled that Slager, 36, was guilty of second-degree murder and obstruction of justice, and also sentenced Slager to two years of supervision after his release.”
In my opinion, Slager should have gotten life in prison for this senseless crime. But it’s better than nothing, I guess.
