It looks like TMZ got part of the 2 Chainz robbery story wrong.

Radio.com is reporting that the vaunted Thirty Mile Zone screwed up the facts in its report about 2 Chainz getting robbed at gunpoint in San Francisco.

The San Francisco police department did confirm that a robbery did take place, but the victim was a member of 2 Chainz’s entourage, not the rapper himself.

“He was not the victim of a robbery,” San Francisco police said in a phone call Monday (June 9). “He was there, but he wasn’t the victim.”

According to SFPD, 2 Chainz and his crew were minding their own business as they were walking in the 800 block of Howard Street at about 4:30 p.m. when they were approached by a suspect carrying a handgun, who fired a gunshot. And yes, while most of the group scamperd away “like cockroaches,” as the TMZ quoted the police report, one member of the entourage reportedly fell to the ground and was approached by the suspect, “who robbed him of an unknown item and fled the scene.”

As far as 2 Chainz and his entourage being uncooperative with authorities, SFPD confirmed that is the case and that the suspect has not yet been located.

2 Chainz was in the Bay Area for a radio concert; his Sunday performance went on as scheduled.
