The NAACP billed a news conference this afternoon as one with new information in the Lennon Lacy investigation but the president of the North Carolina chapter offered no new information outside of a date for a rally to be held later this month.
Instead the event focused on a re-hashing of old information and skepticisms NAACP leaders and Lacy’s family have with the ongoing police investigation.
They said they have questions about how the death scene was handled and ongoing questions about the shoes Lacy was wearing when he died.
Although nothing new was discussed some who attended felt reassured.
“I feel like it gave the family a little more comfort with what’s been going on and I feel like soon there will be justice,” said NaShawn Patrick, a friend of Lennon Lacy’s.
After the meeting some outside the meeting said they felt disheartened about what the true purpose of tonight’s meeting really was.
A rally will be held in Lacy’s honor on Saturday, Dec. 13th.
