Negotiations for a megafight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao drag on, but here’s some news.
According to News Day, HBO Sports president Ken Hershman said Wednesday (Feb 4) that his network has done all it can to facilitate the fight.
He says it’s now up to “the principals” to finalize the deal.
“Our position has been consistent throughout this whole process,” Hershman. “We’re here to stand by and help wherever we can to make this fight happen. We’re not an impediment to that happening, and we’ll do what’s necessary from our end. Then, it’s up to the principals.”
Talks for the proposed May 2 fight has passed Pacquiao’s original Jan. 31 deadline and Pacquiao promoter Bob Arum has suggested they need to conclude by the end of this week.
“For me, the sooner the better, just to get this done or not because we have a lot of other fights on the runway that we want to start moving along,” Hershman said.
