A Colorado man has been awarded Donkey Of The Day for trading seats with dog to avoid DUI arrest.

An interesting Donkey Of The Day this is…

This past Saturday night (5.13.2023), a 28-year-old man from Colorado got lost in a town called Springfield while driving from Las Animas to Pueblo.

Sometime afterwards, Springfield Police Chief Clay Klipfel had pulled said driver over to do a routine traffic stop.

As Klipfel was approaching the Dodge Challenger, he noticed said anonymous driver switching places with his dog.

When Klipfel questioned said anonymous driver, he (the driver) said that he wasn’t the one driving.

The driver then decided to run the race when Klipfel asked if he had been drinking.

Unfortunately, the driver ended up losing the race as he was only able to get 20 yards down the road by the time he was apprehended.

The driver, who was later found to have two active warrants out of Pueblo, has since been arrested for not only his prior warrants but he was also charged with suspicion of driving under the influence, driving while ability impaired, driving under suspension, speeding, and resisting arrest.

The anonymous driver is currently sitting in the Baca County Jail at the time of this post.
