Chicago woman Keisha Golden has been awarded Donkey Of The Day for stabbing her boyfriend to death over who would get to use the microwave first.
Today’s Donkey Of The Day is a perfect reminder of toxic relationships at their worst.
Last Saturday (10.22.2022), Chicago woman Keisha Golden–who was eight months pregnant at the time–stabbed her boyfriend (who has since been identified as Calvin Sidney) to death over who would get to use the microwave first.
While Golden and Sidney’s toxic relationship had met this tragic end, it wasn’t the first time that they had gotten into an argument that ended in violence.
The Chicago Police Department had previously reported having to be called to Golden’s home five times because of domestic violence incidents between June and September.
Four of those times was because Sidney had allegedly choked, punched, slapped, and/or pushed Golden.
Back in July, Golden took out an order of protection against Sidney, claiming he punched her in the face.
Back in August, Sidney refused to press charges after Golden cut his neck badly enough to send him to the hospital.
Golden’s mother, Tarsha Ellis, had this to say “It was just toxic with those two. But they loved each other. If he could raise up right now, they wouldn’t have no case because he would never want charges against her.”
Coming back to Golden and Sidney’s toxic relationship meeting a tragic end, it started with them arguing over who would get to use the microwave to reheat leftovers.
Golden knocked a plate out of Sidney’s hands then Sidney “pushed her down on the counter.”
While Sidney’s uncle tried to break them up with Sidney walking away to the bedroom, Golden grabbed a knife, moved past the uncle, then went into the room and stabbed Sidney in the leg.
Sidney later died at Mount Sinai Hospital from a wound to his femoral artery.
Golden’s mother added “She didn’t mean to kill anyone. She’s broke up about it. She didn’t know you could kill someone by stabbing them in the leg. She just wanted him to leave because he was acting out, and she was worried about hurting the baby. And he wouldn’t go.”
With Golden currently in jail on $2 million bond at the time of this post, Julie Koehler–her lawyer as well as deputy chief of the Cook County public defender’s murder task force–mentioned that “her bond is the same as setting a no-bond order.”
Koehler added “To not only force Keshia to give birth in jail but then to immediately take her child away after birth is cruel to the mother and the baby. This heartless decision is contrary to Illinois law. All the evidence shows Keshia acted in self-defense. The only person she’s ever shown any violence toward was the man that was beating her.”
Only time will tell how this will end.
But until then, you can hear what Charlamagne Tha God–who awarded Golden with a well-deserved Donkey Of The Day–had to say on this situation below…
